On January 24, 2025, Institute of Chemical  Engineering & Technology (ICE&T), hosted an engaging and enriching  recruitment drive with Fatima Group, one of the largest business  conglomerates in Pakistan and provided opportunities for 5th and 7th-semester Chemical  Engineering and Chemistry students (ICE&T), with a focus on recruitment and  internships.  | 
   
  
    Fatima Group, established in 1936, is a  diversified conglomerate with a strong presence in several key industries  including fertilizers, textiles, sugar, energy, packaging, and the mining &  trading of commodities and with an annual turnover exceeding 80 billion PKR and a workforce of more than 6,300 employees.  |

    The event kicked off with a warm and  enthusiastic reception for Fatima Group HR representatives, including two of  our esteemed alumni. Following this, the seminar began with an inspiring  opening speech by Prof. Dr. Syed Nadir Hussain (Director ICE&T). He  motivated students to make the most of this opportunity and stressed the  importance of such industry interactions in shaping their professional futures.  He highlighted the importance of Industrial Academia liaison and proposed a  roadmap to materialize the strong relationship through cooperation with Fatima  group in the areas of industrial problem-solving topics for capstone design  projects, endowment fund, scholarship opportunities for  ICE&T students and funded research projects aligning with strategic  research themes of ICET faculty and Fatima group future plannings.  |

    The event was further supported with the key  role of management by Dr. Ayyaz Muhammad (In charge: Career Counselling  & Placement-Alumni Cell) assisted by the cooperation of Dr. Usman Rashid to make the event well-organized and successful. Fatima Group  representatives delivered an insightful presentation about the company’s  history, growth, and its significant impact on the fertilizer industry. They  shared how Fatima Group has evolved into a global player, committed to  innovation and excellence and playing a vital role in country’s agricultural  sustainability. Two of the ICE&T alumni working with Fatima group shared  their personal journeys, emphasizing how their time at the company has shaped  their careers. Their positive experiences served as a great source of  inspiration for the students in attendance. Fatima Group representatives  engaged students in several fun and challenging games designed to refresh and  energize the participants. Activities like tongue twisters and a poetry  performance challenge provided a much-needed break from formal discussions,  while also encouraging creativity and team spirit. The recruitment/Internship  tests were conducted with around 200 students from across the department  actively participating. Fatima Group acknowledged and appreciated the hard work  of the campus ambassadors, M. Farhan Riaz and Momina Zahid, for  their dedication and efforts in organizing and facilitating the event.  |
