LAHORE: (Wednesday, November 26, 2025): Punjab University Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) organized a one-day seminar on “Practical Steps in Patent Drafting and Filing” at seminar hall of the Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology. On this occasion, PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, Director ORIC Engr. Prof Dr Aqil Inam, renowned IP Attorney & Consultant Engr. Saad Nasrullah, President of PIMME Prof Dr Saleem Shuja, Deputy Directors ORIC Prof Dr Ghazala Yasmeen Butt, Syed Amer Hussain, faculty members and students were present. In his address, PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali encouraged and appreciated the activities of the ORIC, PU. He also encouraged the faculty to learn the practical steps of Patent drafting and filing. He said that this seminar will help to boost university ranking. He also pointed out the need of era to give attention to the students to excel as students learn 30 percent from classes and 70 percent from outside the class, therefore, make the students flexible to fit in all environments. He emphasized the significance of applied research and patenting new technologies and expressed his pleasure towards the seminar. Dr Aqil welcomed the distinguished guests and participants and shed light on the contribution and role of ORIC in the promotion of research culture in the university and commercialization of the projects/technologies. Engr. Saad Nasrullah also delivered a comprehensive lecture on the topic.
